The department of global health (dgh) at the university of washington is celebrating our 10th anniversary. please join us for the global health: next decade, next generation symposium on wednesday, february 8, 2017. we will welcome world renowned leaders to explore pressing issues and future challenges in global health. Background. among academic institutions in the united states, interest in global health has grown substantially: by the number of students seeking global health opportunities at all stages of training, and by the increase in institutional partnerships and newly established centers, institutes, and initiatives to house global health programs at undergraduate, public health and medical schools. 10 global health issues to track in 2021. 2020 was a devastating year for global health. a previously unknown virus raced around the world, rapidly emerging as one of its top killers, laying bare the inadequacies of health systems. today, health services in all regions are struggling to both tackle covid 19, and provide people with vital care. Secondary and tertiary education have also seen drastic growth, with global average years of schooling being much higher now than a hundred years ago. despite all these worldwide improvements, some countries have been lagging behind, mainly in sub saharan africa, where there are still countries that have literacy rates below 50% among the youth. Health issues are increasingly transnational and in recent years the concept of global health has emerged to address these issues. global health is the study and practice of improving health and health equity for all people worldwide through international and interdisciplinary collaboration [].

Most research on health systems examines contemporary problems within one, or at most a few, countries. breaking with this tradition, we present a series of case studies in a book written by key policymakers, scholars and experts, looking at health systems and their projected successes to 2030. Measures of education as a personal attribute. education is measured in a variety of ways. a common measure, years of schooling educational attainment, is problematic insofar as time spent in school gives little indication of how the time is spent and what is learned. 2 school level completion may be a better measure, but also varies in terms of the quality and quantity of what is learned. Global data on health expenditure per capita is available since 1995 and in this chart we show the level of both measures in the first and last year for which data is available. the arrows connect these two observations, thereby showing the change over time for all countries in the world.
